Is it odd that I played your demo for about 10 seconds before my virus scanner decided to delete your program? Unfortunately that 10 seconds didn't give me much time to do anything.

That's weird.
Does your virus scanner delete all 001 games? :?

Apparently just yours :D I thought the game had hung up or something then next I know I get a message saying your .exe had been deleted by Norton. Really weird. From the 9.3 seconds I got to play, it did remind me of my old Bard's Tale/SSI Gold Box days.

I use to make ASCII versions of these games on my C64. I've also been reading a blog called the CPRG Addict about a guy working his way through every CRPG game ever made (a really fun read if you remember these kinds of games). Because of this I've been really in the mood for some of these old school games. In a age where all games are rendered in 3D, it would be a fun to see if you can successfully bring back that old SSI style on a modern game engine. If anything making this style of game would be a pretty nifty learning exercise. (I use modern loosely since 001 sort of lends itself to the old sprite based games of the '80s and '90s)

I enjoy old-school gaming too.
New games are great, but there's some simplistic charm about those really old games.
Old-school and arcade seem to be sort of a running theme for almost every game I've made.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed your 10 seconds of old-school awesomeness. :D

I hate to go of topic on another game, but if you want to try your hands at old school ASCII RPGs, try using basic C++ and the CMD prompt, I have managed to make a retro RPG based on portal using basic C++ and ASCII art.

Sounds good.
I even thought about doing one like that once, and if I do it I'll try that! :)
